Portable tape recorder - a toy, manufactured in Japan in
1964. Also produced under the names
"Electra 770", "Star-Lite Pocket Mate", "Encorder 400,
"Gold Crest".
Perhaps there were other names. Dimensions 205 x 65 x
40. Weight 0,5 kg. Power wiring - 9 v, battery PP3,
Engine - 3 v, two batteries. The design of the device quite sturdy, metal case,
stamped. Kinematics of simple, on one engine, without
stabilization of speed. The engine is located
horizontally between reel table, and the shaft,
acting on both sides of the engine, rotates either one
or the other rubberized reel table. Wiring for 4
transistors (2SB77 - 3 pcs,
2SB75 - 1 pc) made in the form of two boards. One is
located under the mode switch, the other under the
speaker. The battery compartment is located closer to
the middle of the hull near the engine. Batteries in the
compartment are as follows - 9 v (type PP3) in the
middle and on either side of it on one AA batteries.
There are volume and speed of rotation of the engine.
The volume control is combined with a switch dynamics.
Coil diameter 45 mm (1.75 inches) can hold the tape at
10 - 20 minutes of work. Reels are not standard, and to
another recorder will not do. They are densely planted on
reel tables with rubber inserts. Photographing the
coil must be very careful not to break the thin plastic,
from which they are made. By all measures, the device
can be classified as a tape - toys, but in general it
looks like gangbusters. Compact and competent
engineering studies design make it one of the best of
these toys. By the way, erase head is real. However, the
generator is not erased in the circuit, and is
essentially just an electromagnet. This decision was
apparently due to aesthetic considerations. Both heads
are opened in a conspicuous place, and are part of the
design structure. Works staff pretty well, and it could
be used as a voice recorder. Disadvantages are the small
recording time, and the inability to quickly replace the
tape. Is also no built-in microphone. To connect an
external microphone and headset has one jack (3,5 mm) in
the side of the case, next to the buttons to switch
modes. All four buttons, - "S" - stop (red), "RC" -
record (white), "PB" - Playback (green), "RW" - Rewind
(white).
